Season 1, Episode 1: Winter is Coming

So it is the off season and I am starting my review of older episodes to fill in the time between now and season 5 so I hope everyone enjoys and as always please leave me whatever POSITIVE feedback you might have. THX.

It starts off at the Wall and from the very first scene of the series David and Daniel establish the trend that most of the Night's Watch are pale bearded guys whose names I do not know. Maybe with this in mind the one guy without a beard and therefore identifiable is the one allowed to live from the Wight Walker attack and his lack of a beard might be a BIG plot hole since he is a grown man and goes all the way north of the Wall then down to Winterfell without even growing a five o'clock shadow.

Then we meet the Stark family who are all together and happy for the one time in the whole series and we see Arya is already better than all the men at men things. Right away Ned and Cat start building their resumes for parents of the year too by shunning the bastard son who was born that way by no fault of his own and forcing a ten year old to watch a beheading. Later Ned doubles down on the Michael and Dina Lohan parenting techniques by allowing all of his children to adopt wolves on steroids despite admitting he will not help take care of them which backs up my position on dogs like pit bulls in that it is usually the owners at fault for when these animals turn out wrong and more people should donate to the Humane Society.

Then Jaime and Cersei hae a chat and we learn Jon Arryn is dead then Ned learns Jon Arryn is dead and that the king is coming then the king comes and this all happens pretty quickly. King Bob's arrival is sort of a big deal and we learn he still loves Ned's sister more than ice queen Cersei and that he will make Ned his right Hand man ALSO Cersei seems seriously extra icy in these early episodes to the point I almost question whether she is even awake or if she isn't abusing some sort of opiate and needs an intervention with the help of loved ones and a TLC special.

We got a scene of Robb Jon and Theon with their shirts off before King Bob arrives which had me pumped for a second until we get Tyrion's introduction at which point the topless man to woman ratio flips dramatically and permanently in this show. Too frustrated to talk further about ths.

Then OMG the moment everyone is waiting for comes and we get to meet KHALEESI DAENERYS TARGARYEN for the first time!!! Emilia Clark looks STUNNING in this episode and we get to see the lows from which Khaleesi started to make her meteoric rise to the top or as Drake would say she started from the bottom now she here. That bottom includes her misogynistic brother being even more of a creeper than I remembered and sexually harassing her aureola and demeaning and objectifying her with his language and crude sexual references as well but we learn she will marry Khal Drogo and she enjoys hot baths.

Then we have a feast at Winterfell and lots of one-on-one character bits so we get to learn what everyone is about and who they like and don't and everyone seems to be having a good time which is nice BTW it makes me think of how far the Starks have fallen and we sort of see the opposite of with Khaleesi in that the Starks started from the top now they down there. Ned is dead. Robb is dead. Benjen is probably dead. Cat is a zombie. Sansa lives with a pedophile. Jon lives with Stannis. Arya is a serial killer. Bran is a tree. Rickon is still forgettable. After dinner we see Ned and Cat in the earliest stages of foreplay before they are interrupted and find out from crazy Lysa that the Lannisters killed Jon Arryn.

Then back to Khaleesi in what will stand as the worst wedding of the series for at least another 2+ seasons as she marries Drogo amidst murder and rape and misogyny but she also meets Jorah and gets her dragon eggs too which is nice. Then Drogo gives her a horse and they go off to have their wedding night in what I am selectively remembering as a passionate affair on the beach as the sun set.

Finally we hear Tyrion and the Hound and Ned and King Bob talk about hunting in VERY different contexts and Ned gives Bran the first of a gazillion telegraphed meaningful looks this season to a character he will never have a scene with again. Then Bran starts climbing again against the earlier wishes of his mother and ends up stumbling onto the twincest in action which somehow may only be the 3rd most traumatic experience of the episode for him as he shortly thereafter gets shoved out the window in a scene that may be an homage to Woody pushing Buzz out the window in Toy Story 1 (I'm on the fence about that TBH though).

The theme of this episode seems to be raising your kids right which luckily my parents did for me but not all of these characters were so lucky as we see Ned and Cat not disciplining Bran fro climbing having major consequences. Spare the rod, spoil the child, incite a civil war. Though of course I do not condone violence against children AT ALL. Also Khaleesi never really had parents yet ends up being a messiah figure with few if any faults so imagine if she was raised right too. UNSTOPPABLE.

Season 4, Episode 10: The Children

Please remember to leave any POSITIVE feedback kthx.

Jon Snow

The episode begins by finishing up everything that happened in the previous episode and we get some good acting from Mr. Harrington and Mr. Ciaran Hinds and also a lot of interesting information given to us as well such as giants have had kings for a real long time and Grenn came from a farm and Jon cannot handle his liquor. Later Stannis and the Onion Knight show up to do some horseback riding and dressage though they seem to have spent most of their time practicing their timing so they can all get off their horses in unison.

Cersei

Cersei has a stretch here where she starts dominating men left and right and I found it liberating. First she shows Pycelle who is boss then she started to drop some The Young and the Restless level bombshells on Tywin before sort of reversing the coffin rape from episode 3 though clearly they still pulled the punches and made Cersei less controlling because of misogyny.

Khaleesi

This was easily the most dramatic and emotional scene in the episode and the dragon CGI was almost as good as Ms. Emilia Clark's acting which means it was very good. Both the man with his burnt daughter and putting the dragons in that cave were very heartbreaking and its good to see that even in a transition season for Khaleesi where she is not as much the focus she is still capable of carrying any episode.

Funerals up North

So here for a while we see some funeral ALSO I noticed there are a lot of gingers up north compared to the rest of the world. The Red Woman gives Jon some looks with serious sexual tension through the fire and then he talks to bearded ginger about how Wildlings don't have funerals. Then he tells him to go up north and do a funeral pretty much for Ygritte like 5 seconds after.

Bran

This scene was terrible like some sort of cheesy old fantasy stuff. With no build up at all we get skeleton warriors and elves (aren't the Children just supposed to be small and not actual children looking things? like they just made them little kids with dirt on their face) and fireballs and tree wizards all introduced in like five minutes which is like way too fast ALSO did anyone really care when Jojen died when he has been in like 5 scenes all time?

Arya

Arya continues her descent into being completely crazy and sociopathic when she refuses to euthanize the Hound because she wants him to suffer which is pretty messed up though it was cool to see Brienne and Arya together as both are those strong female characters I like who refuse to play by the gender rules of their society which is misogynistic. She gets on a boat later too.

Tyrion

Jaime saves Tyrion which everyone probably guessed and they have a nice brotherly love moment before they seperate and Tyrion decided to go off the deep end. He goes to visit his dad and finds he has been sleeping with his ex (serious Young and the Restless stuff going on this whole episode) and he freaks on her and chokes her out like Wayne Brady after she tries to pull a cheese knife on him. He finds Tywin relieving himself and shoots him when he shows a lack of respect for women and the recently deceased. Tyrion and Varys then also take a boat ride. There was a boat theme this episode I guess.

Khaleesi's Five Fantastic and Fun Fasion Phases

Khaleesi played by the beautiful Emilia Clark has gone through some major changes to her wardrobe throughout the seasons like all women do as they mature and find their own fashion sense but I think I have picked up on at least five distinct phases of her growth as a style icon.

Stage 1: Whipping Girl (Images 4 and 5)

The first is her phase when she was still bossed around by Viserys all the time. While very beautiful these dresses also are very revealing and show Khaleesi being vulnerable and treated like a piece of meat by her somewhat misogynistic brother which she certainly was back then but no longer as she has become the powerful Mother of Dragons.

Stage 2: Khaleesi (Images 1 and 2)

These are the outfits that we remember when she became iconic as Khaleesi and are probably the most iconic outfits in the show which makes sense since she is the show's most iconic character. This shows that she is adapting to fit in with the Dothraki because Khaleesi is very adaptable and also shows she can go for glammed up or super casual and still look classy and beautiful.

Stage 3: Finding Her Own Style as a Woman in a Man's World (Images 3 and 7)

So we start to see Khaleesi change her style up in Quarth and as we see she is sort of transitioning here and trying to find herself. We see her at first trying to fit in in a new place like a lot of people with her dress in Image 3 but as the season goes along we see her combine her Quarth style with her previous Dothraki style and end up with outfits like in Image 7. Khaleesi is still very adaptable but is now becoming a woman and realizes she must forge her own path and starts wearing pants more to show she is the one in charge.

Stage 4: Blue (Image 6 and Below)

Khaleesi then apparently decided she really liked blue as we barely have seen her wear any other colors (occasionally white) since then. She now seems to switch between her beautiful classy woman style in formal situations like Image 6 but also dresses more practically in others. The above image is the best example of this and is probably her second most iconic look unless we count when she was naked and covered in soot and dragons. She is showing she can look feminine but empowered all at once by combining the dress and the blue jeans/boots which is always a great look that maintains her modesty and is also practical for when riding horses or dragons or venturing into thick brush.

Stage 5: The Future of Khaleesi Style (Below)

In conclusion we see that Khaleesi's style while always beautiful and perfect is also changing all the time as she grows into a strong female character. Her above dress shows she is willing to show more skin now because she is growing confident in her sexuality and knows she can use it to manipulate the simple-minded misogynistic men she will need to confront on her journey to her destiny of taking the Iron Throne, defeating Stannis and the Wight Walkers,  marrying Jon Snow and living happily ever after. But its also classy at the same time and you could see her wearing it on the red carpet if they had movie premieres in Essos. Its a tough balancing act but she sure knows how to pull it off!

Khaleesi is Declared the #1 Game of Thrones Character by Rolling Stone

"The Mother of Dragons is the human embodiment of everything that makes Game of Thrones great. Bow down."

In other not surprising news, Rolling Stone stated the obvious in their ranking of the Top 40 Game of Thrones Characters which is that Khaleesi is #1. They lavish praise on her and also put out an interesting top 5. Tyrion at #3 and Ned at #5 are obvious ones too but Joffrey being #2 shows that the show's iconic bad guy is almost as important as its iconic good guy. The real shocker though was Sansa coming in 4th. You go girl! In even less surprising news than the previous news, Khaleesi outranked Stannis and Theon significantly. Those two came in 30th and 29th respectively, only a couple slots ahead of powerhouse fan-favorite characters like Sam, Shae and Talisa.

Scientific Evidence Shows Khaleesi is a Media Darling

"Sansa was the world’s least-popular character (because apparently many people haven’t read the books), and the most headlines were written about Queen Daenerys. "

Sam Maggs of Geekosystem had Outbrain conduct a study to see who the most popular Game of Thrones character is. Looking at 5000+ articles on 100,000+ sites, it was proven that Khaleesi has more headlines written about her than any other character, which suggests the media is smart enough to recognize she is the character their readers most want to hear about. She was also the most popular character in the romantic country of Spain. She lost out on the overall title to Cersei but that is because its all about the number of comments on articles and Cersei is scandalous and gets those Paris Hilton/Kim Kardashian type comments for her scheming and being a lying evil tramp on TV. Sansa came in last which is unfortunate as I pity her but understandable as she mostly sits around and mopes. Also worth noting is that once again the journalistic and scientific communities decided that Stannis and Theon were not worth mentioning.

Research Proves Khaleesi is the Most Beloved Character on Game of Thrones.

"Using ninja machine learning techniques, we discovered... that everyone — we mean everyone — is in love with the Khaleesi."

A new study by BuzzFeed Data Science Intern Yiren Lu has proven that Khaleesi is as expected the most beloved character on all of Game of Thrones. Using advanced computers to look at 200,000 tweets on Twitter, she saw which characters had the most positive and negative mentions. The results were largely as expected though its nice to have some official verification of this fact. 89% of tweets referencing Khaleesi were positive which is 12% higher than the next closest Robb Stark. Joffrey comes in dead last with only 33% of his tweets positive which lends support to the idea that this came out exactly the way people would expect it to and the answers are so common sense that it shouldn't be questioned. As interesting as the results were, it might be even more telling which characters were not even included: Stannis and Theon, who science deemed irrelevant.

Season 4, Episode 7: Mockingbird

OK same as last week, did it in order of first appearance so you can skip to what you want and let me know what you think. This one ended up way longer because this episode had so many characters and was longer than last weeks and I wanted to take it seriously. Worked hard so enjoy and let me know what POSITIVE criticisms you have! Thanks.

Tyrion

Tyrion is still pretty angry about the trial it seems and takes it out on people while on the other hand begging them to risk their lives and fight a giant for him. Bronn was looking swag in some new clothes and but like Jaime is afraid of the Mountain but finally Tyrion gets some love from the Red Viper who can't resist the chance to legally murder him. He also seems to feel bad for Cersei sexually assaulting him as a child. Dinklage is showing every emotion this season and will definitely get another Emmy this season probably for sure.

Cersei and the Mountain

So with all the subtlety of a jackhammer it seems the writers wanted to remind us that the Mountain is evil and huge so they have him chopping people in half like they were logs with his shirt off. Cersei is really going off the wall Book Cersei crazy at this point as she seems to be totally down with all of this.

Arya and the Hound

The first scene was dumb except the beginning with that dying guy. Arya is a straight sociopath all of a sudden and kills someone every episode and the whole thing with Rorge was stupid. So that one dude, I guess The Biter because of the biting, jumps on the Hound and chomps on him while Rorge just stands and watches him get killed then chit chats and Arya stabs him. The End. Later we see the bite isn't going so well and the love/hate dynamic between these two is going strong.

Night's Watch

Alliser Thorne and Janos Slynt seem to exist only to be rude to Jon and even when he makes good points they ignore it on default. The builder even thought it was a good idea and he bullies him into shutting up. Sort of unbelievable levels of stupid as he would rather let the Wildlings kill them all than admit Jon was right when he says the freaking obvious that they should shut down the one singular way those 100,000 men can break through the Wall.

Khaleesi

Once again the highlight of the episode was Khaleesi's storyline. I think it is nice to see a strong female character order a man around sexually like that and get some nudity for the ladies for once so turning the tables a bit. Feel so bad for Jorah "Friend-zone" Mormont though but thought Emilia Clark knocked the speech with him out of the park and the takes they used in the final episode were better than in the trailer. Likely to also get an Emmy nod though maybe not win.

Dragonstone

ANNNND right back to nudity for the men. This scene is about as good as good as a Dragonstone scene gets since Stannis' black hole of a personality isn't in it for once. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be taking away from this that Selyse is jealous of Melisandre's body and that Stannis needs medieval Viagra to sleep with her and not Mel or is she actually lezzing out a little here?

Brienne and Pod

I almost broke my laptop in joy when I jumped up after seeing Hot Pie it was almost as good as Sir Pounce. Not sure where these guys are headed to next which makes me think we are being misled OH and also how many people think them being told about the Brotherhood might be leading to a certain meeting with a certain person who may or may not be a lady and may or may not have a heart of stone?

The Eyrie

My God does Sansa get it rough because she was previously surrounded by psychos and she thinks she gets out of it and is right back to being surrounded by psychos. I wanted to curb stomp Robin when he messed up the snow castle. Then  Littlefinger gets all Sandusky with Sansa and I was hoping Chris Hansen would come to her rescue but instead Lysa sees it of course and her attempt to shove her out the moon door backfires in a big way. No "Only Cat" whopptie doo get over it book nerds.

Rating

Its weird cause this episode was mostly set-up for these three last episodes which should be awesome, though I expect the end of episode 9 to be overrated, but was still one of the better episodes because we saw progress in a lot of stories plus it had Khaleesi and not a hint of Stannis or Theon. I'm giving it a solid 8/10 which gives me room to go up for these last episodes.

Season 4, Episode 6: The Laws of Gods and Men

OK I worked hard on this and hope you guys like it and thanks! I went in order of the episode so just read what you want you can probably skip the next paragraph.

Stannis

Super smart move by the creators to start the episode off with their worst character. Stannis went to the bank and then Onion Knight went to take a bath and it was as boring as that sounds so I won't talk about it any more.

Theon

I was glad to see Asha again as she is one of those strong female characters that I like in the things I read and watch that doesn't play by men's rules. She tried to save her terribl boring brother and of course like the idiot he is he doesn't take the chance.

Baths

Also I think I noticed a bath theme this episode since Onion Knight and the black misogynist pirate took one then Ramsay washed Theon and there was some weird sexual tension.

Khaleesi

Then we got to the best stretch of the episode. We got to see the dragons and Khaleesi proved she is already a pretty good ruler but she still has places she needs to improve on and then we got to see everyone at the Small Council agree that she is defnitely a major threat which it is about time they realized.

Varys

Also Oberyn and Varys chatted about a bunch of stuff. Pointless.

Tyrion

Tyrion's trial was a bit long though I guess its important but the whole thing depressed me as it was complete bullcrap on Cersei's half and Tywin clearly was a jerk to Jaime and Tyrion both and I can't believe no one eve Varys stuck up for him. Shay broke my heart a bit and Tyrion got very dramatic and emotional for a second and I am super excited for the trial by combat.

Rate it

Overall I give the episode a 5/10. Khaleesi did what she could to salvage it but Stannis and Theon in one episode is always a recipe for disaster and having half the episode be a trial is too Law and Order for me.

Please share any and all POSITIVE criticisms and thanks
